recommendations from a recent trip to nyc. most are in manhattan (les, soho, east village) with a few scattered in brooklyn. enjoy!
coffee & baked goods
la colombe – multiple locations in nyc, a solid cup
think coffee – grab coffee from here after hitting the used bookstore codex next door
louis – surprisingly good coffee for a hotel café, super cute place to get some work done too
ludlow coffee supply – great location on ludlow st to stay caffeinated while shopping
café leon dore – can’t speak for the coffee but fun people watching
gasoline alley coffee – a solid americano
levain – a very chunky, gooey chocolate chip cookie
russ & daughters – this bagel comes with enough cream cheese for a heart attack. chewier than a normal bagel imo
brunch
sonnyboy – cute spot in les for breakfast/happy hour
rintintin – place was packed for brunch and the vibes were good but the food was ok
thai diner – pretty much everything on the menu was incredible
rooftops
mr. purple – fratty vibe, avoid on the weekends if possible but sundays offer good music + views
the roof, public hotel – again beautiful 360 degree views of the city, weekends are chaotic
casual-ish dining
wayan – spicy, flavorful and really beautiful food + venue
cathédrale – on the fancy end, the food was delicious. definitely get the burrata!
kings co imperial – two locations, one in les and the other in brooklyn. perfect for a weekday drink and dinner with friends
sestina – vegan pasta. i wouldn’t say it’s as good as the real thing but it comes pretty close
ugly baby – this one needs a bit of planning (pre-order required) but it’s a new twist on thai food, meat heavy. the food is incredibly spicy though, and they don’t make adjustments! take tissues to weep in
ramen ishida – i got the umami miso, and it was surprisingly light for ramen
los tres chiflados – hole in the wall mexican, everything was fresh and tasty. get the corn elote!
